McClure Engineering, Inc. was founded in 1978 by Scott McClure to fulfill the engineering needs of businesses and organizations with operations and facilities in Twin Falls, Idaho and the surrounding areas. For over 40 years, Mr. McClure has built a reputation of professionalism and unparalleled expertise that has expanded the business footprint and brought McClure’s expertise and licensed services into 15 states and a handful of foreign countries.
In 2020, Scott McClure passed the reins of the company to a new Board of Directors who share his vision of engineering excellence and his passion for a business built on the old-fashioned virtues of integrity, hard work and category-leading expertise. This new ownership is committed to raising the bar even higher through expansion of services, growth of talent base, and an eye on the future of engineering across the American West.
Meet the McClure Engineering Board of Directors

Matt Farr
Matt graduated from Utah State University with a Bachelor of Science in Welding Engineering. To put himself through school, he worked as an Iron Worker, gaining hands-on experience erecting commercial structural steel and re-bar frameworks.
After graduation, Matt worked for The Boeing Company on a research and development team commissioned to develop and implement the Friction Stir Welding (FSW) process. Matt is a Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) and has worked extensively with AWS welding codes, applying engineering principles in the fabrication of process piping and pressure vessels for the nuclear and petrochemical industries. He also has comprehensive project management and field engineering experience on industrial structural steel and bridge erection, as well as industrial food processing equipment and support structure manufacturing and installation projects.
For the last ten years, Matt has focused his career on Communications Engineering, learning the intricacies of designing, constructing, and operating fiber optic networks. He held the position of Engineering Manager for Direct Communications with oversight of multimillion-dollar utility design and construction projects. He also gained experience in applying for and managing federal government funding programs to aid in the expansion of broadband service in rural America.
Matt and his wife, Mariah, live in Rockland, Idaho where they are raising the lower half of their eight-child family. Matt is also a volunteer firefighter and is currently serving as Assistant Fire Chief.

Sam Farr
Sam graduated from Brigham Young University-Idaho in 2017 with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. As a former employee of Honda of America Manufacturing Inc., he has gained experience with many disciplines of engineering including electrical, mechanical, manufacturing, and civil engineering. While working for Honda, Sam participated in overseeing many facility improvement and maintenance projects for the Marysville Auto Plant using D/B/B (design bid build) methodology.
Sam brings a balance of both “boots-on-the-ground” and project management expertise to the McClure team. While completing his undergraduate degree, Sam worked in the field as an outside plant technician operating heavy equipment and installing fiber optic network facilities. He now continues his career in the communications industry as the plant manager for a rural Internet service provider in the state of Missouri. He is a member of the Board of Directors at Missouricom and is responsible for overseeing network infrastructure upgrades and new builds totaling $10 million over the next eight years.
When Sam is not spending time with his wife, raising their two children, he enjoys working shoulder to shoulder with clients and contractors to help projects come to life and ensure their future success.
Garrin Bott
Garrin is a graduate of Idaho State University with a Bachelor of Science. He got his start in telecommunications by going to work for Rockland Telephone Company’s affiliated company Direct Communications Star West, eventually becoming the General Manager and a partner for this company. In 1999 he became the Assistant Manager for Direct Communications Rockland.
In 2002 he became the President of Oregon Telephone Corporation. Since that time, Oregon Telephone has expanded its fiber and broadband network. Garrin has been successful in deploying fiber and broadband services in the rural areas he serves. He is former President of the Idaho Telephone Association and former Board representative for the Western Telecommunications Association. Outside of these core career endeavors, Garrin has been involved in the formation of, and has participated on the boards of, several communication companies, including Independent Cable Systems of Idaho, Syringa Wireless, and Syringa Networks.
Garrin is an advocate for creating jobs in rural America and actively supports his local community. He has served on a local school board for over 9 years, actively supports the Boy Scouts of America, and has been a volunteer EMT for 10 years.
Of all things, Garrin enjoys being a father and husband most. He has been happily married to his wife Deborah for 29 years and they together have 5 girls and 4 boys.

Jonathan Miller, P.E.
With over 15 years of professional experience in manufacturing and service industries, Jonathan brings a unique background to McClure Engineering Inc. After graduating from University of Idaho in Moscow, he started his professional career by learning the processes involved with producing non-fat dried milk and bulk sweet cream at the Darigold plant in Lynden, WA. Jonathan is licensed in Idaho as a Mechanical Engineer.
Jonathan’s experience includes manufacturing of durable goods (synthetic fiber ropes) and non-durable goods (powdered milk), project management, support of offshore oil and gas station keeping services (including regulatory) and decommissioning of fixed platforms by abrasive water jet cutting in the outer continental shelf of the Gulf of Mexico, USA.
A co-inventor for more than 5 US Patents, Jonathan also speaks Brazilian Portuguese, a skill he developed while living in Bahia, Brazil for 22 months. Jonathan has authored and presented technical papers at conferences on three continents and even won best overall presenter at MCEDD 2014 in Madrid, Spain.

Scott F. McClure, P.E., S.E., LEED Accredited Professional
Scott graduated with a Bachelor of Science in General Engineering from Idaho State University. After graduating from Idaho State he served in the US Marine Corps. Scott decided to start McClure Engineering after the realization that the best results are obtained when you combine a committed work ethic with expertise. With over 40-plus years of experience, Scott has provided professional mechanical, industrial and structural engineering solutions to clients locally, across the country and internationally.
In outside activities, Scott was the President of the Idaho Society of Professional Engineers in 1984-1985, and in 1984 received the Outstanding Engineer Award from Idaho State University. He served from 1988 to 1990 as Idaho State National Director to the National Society of Professional Engineers and has served as National Director for Consulting Engineers of Idaho from 1990 to 1993. He is a past President of the Consulting Engineers of Idaho. He has been a member of the YFCA Board of Directors and past Chairman. Scott served on the Idaho State Board of Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors from 1998 to 2008 and served as Board Chairman in 2001. In 2010 Scott was awarded the Idaho Excellence in engineering award from the Idaho Society of Professional Engineers. In 2019 Scott was elected to the College of Southern Idaho Board of Trustees.

Brad Korsen, Drafter/Designer
Brad holds a Technical Certificate in the field of Drafting Technology from the College of Southern Idaho and a Pre-engineering Academy Certificate from Minico High School. As a drafter/designer, he utilizes AutoCad, AutoCAD MEP, Revit and AutoCAD Structural Detailing to produce 2D and 3D detailed drawings. In addition, he has experience in structural, HVAC, refrigeration and mechanical systems.

Zach Malina, E.I.T
Zach is from Twin Falls, Idaho and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from
Oregon Institute of Technology. Zach was awarded a golf scholarship to attend the university out of high
school and played on the Oregon Tech’s team all five years he was there. He graduated in 2022 and
started at McClure Engineering shortly after. Zach has taken the first steps in his professional career
with passing the Fundamentals of Engineering Exam (FE) and plans to eventually obtain a Professional
License (PE) after the four years of required experience.
